why dya sing Hallelujah when it means nothing to you?

surrounded the incessant horning of long snaking traffic on the expressway on a wet monday morning, i buried myself in the sounds of chet baker, kings of convienience and damien rice.

detaching myself from the seething urban tangle of man and steel,i dreamt of lazy sunny mornings spent lying on backs in rustling green fields with muted sunshine warming faces and the gentle pounding of the dawdling surf from the nearby beach filling ears under an impossibly blue sky.

i dreamt of close friends sprawled about, partaking in good wine, engaging conversation and merriment. frittered with weak attempts at coyness by covering one's mouth with the back of one's hand while laughter flows unchecked and joyous.

i dreamt of lovers entwined, her nestled in the crook of his arm, reading aloud and sharing her favourite lines from the book she's reading with him while he gazes at her soft lips and takes pleasure from seeing their fluttering movements shape words.

i pressed the bell and alighted.
i rejoined the tangled ugly masses of man, concrete, machines and left my daydreams behind.
